The basic idea of this site is like a crossover of Pokemon and Fruits Basket, simply put.
In Fruits Basket, 14 people in the Sohma family are cursed with the twelve spirits of the zodiac plus the cat and the Jade Emperor (God, basically).
Pokemon is something I shouldn't really need to explain here, I figure everyone has heard of it at least a little. However, incase anyone doesn't really have much of a clue, there are some pokemon considered Legendary Pokemon. These are powerful and often have a special 'gift', for example Jirachi grants wishes, etc.
It takes place in a region called Rusec, which is seperated from the other regions in the Pokemon universe, and lies far north of Orre. It is also fairly small, consisting of one major city, a smaller town and a few scattered houses in the woods, mountains and near the lake. The city is called Balyn, the town is called Prynad. The region has one large lake in the north, and a lot of it is covered in forests. To the west and west lie two mountains. The eastern mountain is smaller and is named Mt. Rush. The westen is the larger, and is named Hero Peak.
So, the idea behind 'The Curse of a Legend' is that 34 people are cursed with the spirits of Legendary pokemon. In addition to these, one is possesed by Arceus, and another is posessed by a pokemon left out of being a legendary, Rotom. (I did consider Rotom as a legendary, but apparently it isn't.) The reason for Rotom being left out (for here at least) is unknown, but Rotom dislikes Mewtwo, because according to legend, Mewtwo is a clone, made by humans, and should therefore, according to Rotom, not be included. Obviously, Rotom is more than eager to take the place of Mewtwo. Mewtwo's story, however (which can be considered as the first movie and Mewtwo Returns) is said enough to let it be considered a legend, though Rotom fails to see this.
Obviously, 36 characters will be cursed (and therefore of the same family) but no others will.
Also, where this RP is to be set, pokemon trainers are non-exsistant. Pokemon are creatures of myth, and the legendaries are considered the 'God pokemon' which makes Arceus the 'God of all Gods' (mega ego boost, no?). And of course, our family is cursed with their spirits. The family name is Arkisa.
And the cursed ones have a private party for Christmas every year, just those 36. And some in the family (who aren't cursed) are not even aware of the fact their relatives can transform.
Obviously, it will get confusing if people start to go into detail about the family when they make a character, as other people's characters may conflict with what they put. So there's no real need to go into it, but feel free to say your character is another character's cousin or something (as long as whoever owns the other character agress to this).
And another thing is that a lot of legendaries are connected to each other. Whilst with a lot it does not matter, a few of them need to be related to each other in a certain way to make sense:
*Manaphy is a biological parent to Phione (both can be either gender)
*Latias and Latios are twins (fraternal or identical, and characters match the pokemon's gender)
*Cressilia has to be a girl. Also, she should be closely related to Darkrai, the other 'moon' pokemon.
*Palkia/Dialgia, Groudon/Kyogre are rivals but not to the extent that Rotom and Mewtwo dislike each other.
*Darkrai should be mean and evil, since in legend it sent people into eternal nightmares.
*Regirock, Regice and Registeel should look up to Regigagas (who is basically their king in a way) and maybe be younger.
*Uxie needs to be very intelligent (Uxie represents knowlege)
*Rotom and Mewtwo dislike each other, since Mewtwo is classed as a legendary even though it is apparently a clone, and Rotom is not.
Other than that, it's pretty much open, but if a legendary is part of one of the trios it should be more closely related to the other of that trio maybe.
The cursed ones transform the same way that the Sohmas do in Furuba. Whenever they are hugged by someone of the opposite sex or if their body is under too much pressure, they'll turn into their respective legies. They can also battle each other like a pokemon would in this form. (They are not levelled, and may have any four of their complete movesets, not including TMs/HMs) They're naked when they change back. The one possesed by Arceus (also will be the head of the Arkisa family) will not transform when weak, since the spirit of the God is supposedly more violent, meaning the head of the family would often be ill and weak (like Akito), so the head only changes when hugged. Also, if one of the Arkisas hugs another Arkisa of the opposite gender they don't transform.
Memory surpression is done by the member possesing the spirit of Uxie, whenever the head of the family commands for it.
Lugia is also able to transform at will, if Zapdos, Articuno and Moltres are all transformed. If one of the three transforms back, Lugia also does (This somewhat relates to Pokemon 2000: The power of One, where the three treasures awaken Lugia).
One thing I should mention here is that whilst in pokemon form, they can't really use most of the 'special powers' (wish-granting, time travel, dimension shifting, etc). But they can by all means use attacks and fly if their legendary is able to do so. They can also still speak english.
Some can, however, use 'powers' showed in the games/anime. The two Latis (Latios and Latias) are able to use 'sight-sharing' where one can show the other exactly what they can see. Pokemon like Mew and Mewtwo can use telekenisis and Rotom can tap into electrical devices. Darkrai can alter people's dreams but not actually trap them permently inside them, however it could make them sleepwalk off of a cliff or something. Cressilia can stop Darkrai from doing so, and Shaymin can bring life to dead plants, but is only able to restore a few areas at a time. Suicune can purify tainted water to an extent.
And of course, someone will end up finding out their secret. Possibly even more than one person.
Of course, not everyone will find out. Memory surpression. >=3
As far as homes go, it's pretty open. The head of the family needs to live in the main house, though. I will make sub-boards for people who want to live, say, in the woods. Where a character lives is to be included in character apps.
